Professional Practices Procedures
Here you can find documents about NASP's procedures for handling ethical
complaints. If you plan to submit an ethical complaint to NASP, please
download both the complaint and release forms, complete them, sign
them, and return them to the address specified on the forms.

Leigh
Armistead - Southeast Region

Dr. Leigh Armistead is a school psychologist who earned his
specialist degree at Winthrop University and his doctorate at Indiana University
of Pennsylvania. He practiced in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District for fourteen years before joining
the faculty of Winthrop University in 2004. Dr. Armistead's specialty
areas include early intervention for reading disabilities, positive behavior
support programs and the use of technology in school psychology. He teaches
courses in behavior modification, exceptionalities in children, psycho-educational
assessment, as well as school psychology traineeship and internship courses. Dr.
Armistead is licensed as a Psychological Associate in North Carolina and as a School Psychologist in
both North and South Carolina.
Stephen
R. Crane - Midwest Region

Stephen R. Crane, NCSP, LPC is a School Psychologist for the Edmond, Oklahoma
Public Schools, serving two elementary schools, Angie Debo Elementary and
Washington Irving Elementary. Mr. Crane has served NASP in many roles:
Delegate from Oklahoma for two terms, West Central Regional Director, member
of the Executive Council, two terms as chair of the Strategic Resources Committee,
two terms as Co-Chair of Professional Development for the Convention Committee,
Co-Chair of the Executive Director Search Committee, Membership Co-Chair,
and a member of both the GPR and Assistance to States Committees. In
1993, Mrs. Crane was honored as the Oklahoma School Psychologist of the Year,
and in 1995, he was one of the four finalists for the National School Psychologist
of the Year. He was the President of the Oklahoma School Psychological
Association in 1988, has been on the Executive Board from 1985 to the present,
and currently is the Chair of the Ethical and Professional Standards Committee. Mr.
Crane is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and is a Licensed
Professional Counselor. His many professional affiliations include
the Oklahoma School Psychological Association, NASP, the Learning Disabilities
Association, the Council for Exceptional Children, the Oklahoma Institute
for Child Advocacy, Safe Kids Oklahoma, and Pi Theta Phi.
Fred Provenzano - Western Region

Fred Provenzano, PhD, NCSP is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist in private practice in Seattle, WA. In addition to his work in private practice, he has worked as a school psychologist and intervention specialist in public schools and in pediatric neuropsychology at the Seattle Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Provenzano has also been an associate clinical instructor in the University of Washington’s School Psychology training program and a visiting instructor at University of Idaho, teaching graduate courses in counseling theory, counseling practicum, consultation, and family counseling. His experience also includes supervision of pre-doctoral interns and post-doctoral residents. Currently the Washington state delegate to NASP, he has also served NASP as Program Manager for Professional Development, Convention Chair, Leadership Development Chair, and on the Ethics Advisory Panel. Dr. Provenzano is a former president of the Washington State Association of School Psychologists, and served as their Ethics Chair for six years. He completed his PhD from the Educational Psychology Department at the University of Washington in 1983.

Feinberg - Assistant Executive Director, NASP Staff

Dr. Ted Feinberg completed his doctoral and postdoctoral
training at the University of New York at Albany where he has also been
on the graduate school faculty. He has also been on the graduate school
faculty at Russell Sage College. Dr. Feinberg is a former director
of Albany Counseling and Crisis Intervention Services, and one of the founding
members and later chairman of the National Emergency Assistance Team, volunteering
his time to do crisis intervention training and disaster mental health
work for the American Red Cross. He has been on the crisis response team
in Spotsylvania, Virginia and Littleton, Colorado. Dr. Feinberg assumed
his position as Assistant Executive Director of NASP in August, 2000 and
is a frequently invited participant at many of the Washington, D.C. planning
and development meetings and conferences, including a U.S. Department of
Education National Teleconference on school safety hosted by then Secretary
of Education, Richard W. Riley and Attorney General Janet Reno. He has
recently co-authored two book chapters dealing with ethical issues related
to behavioral interventions in schools.
Susan
Jacob - Co-Chair

Susan Jacob, who earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology
from Michigan State University in 1981, is currently Professor
of Psychology and faculty member of the School Psychology Program at Central Michigan University. She is co-author, with T.S. Hartshorne,
of Ethics and Law for School Psychologists, now in its fourth edition
(2003), and is author or co-author of more than thirty book chapters and
journal articles. From 1997-2000, Dr. Jacob was coordinator of the Central Michigan State University Institutional Review
Board for Research Involving Human Subjects. She is currently co-chair of
the NASP Ethical and Professional Practices Committee. Dr. Jacob's areas
of professional interest include ethical and legal issues for school psychologists,
creating safe schools for sexual minority youth, and intellectual assessment.
Kathy
McNamara - Chair

Kathy McNamara received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Kent State University in 1985, and served as a practitioner
and supervisor for fifteen years before joining the faculty of the School
Psychology Program at Cleveland State University in 1994, and is currently serving
as director of the program. Dr. McNamara serves on the Executive Board
and chairs the Professional Ethics and Standards Committee of the Ohio
School Psychologists Association. She has been a member of the NASP Ethical
and Professional Principles Committee since 2000.
