Download the application, either for graduates of NASP-approved programs or for graduates of non-approved programs. Detailed instructions and the necessary forms are provided in these documents.

Please submit the official transcripts from your graduate program. You do not need to submit your undergraduate transcripts.

Have my application, transcripts, and Praxis II scores been received?

You can check the status of your certification by logging in to the website and clicking "View My Account" (located at the top right of the page) or you can call us at (866) 331-NASP or (301) 657-0270. To look up your Praxis II scores, we need your name and the date you took the test.

How long does it take to process the application?

Applications from graduates of NASP-approved programs take about four weeks to process. Applications from graduates of non-approved programs can take several months.

What does the Praxis II revision mean?

The National School Psychologist Test, administered by the Educational Testing Service, was revised and rescaled in September of 2008. Material on the test was updated, and the scoring scale for the test was changed. However, the same content is covered by both tests. If you took the test before 9/1/2008 (test code 10400), then the passing score is 660. If you took the test after 9/1/2008 (test code 10401), then the passing score is 165. These are equivalent scores, reflecting the same number of correct answers on the test. All scores on the discontinued test are reportable for nine (9) years.

I graduated from a non -approved program, and I did not save course syllabi. How do I get this information?

Contact the current program director of your training program, as your program should have the necessary information on file. Also, most universities and colleges keep copies of past university bulletins or catalogs on file in their libraries.

When is my renewal date and what happens if I send my renewal in early?

Your NCSP certification renewal date is located on your NCSP certification card. You may also access this information by viewing your profile. You have the option of renewing at the end of your three-year period or you can renew any time upon completion of 75 hours of Continuing Professional Development credits. Renewing early or before the renewal period is expired will reset your renewal date to three years from the month of your renewal.

How do I renew if my NCSP is expired?

You have three years to renew an expired credential by submitting the renewal documentation, with valid CPD hours, and the appropriate late fees. CPD hours expire after three years. If your NCSP expired more than three years ago, you must reapply for the NCSP.

What forms do I need to submit for recertification?

The renewal process involves filling out three forms: the Renewal Payment, the Affidavit of Continuing Professional Development Credits, and the Directory Information/Renewal Questionnaire form. These forms are enclosed with your NCSP Renewal Booklet (which is mailed at least one month prior to your expiration date, and are also available for download). To ensure you receive your Renewal Booklet, please be sure you notify us of any change of address. You may do this by editing your profile online or by contacting us at cert@naspweb.org.

What are the current fees for recertification?

Renewal fees are $90 every three years for NASP members and $190 for non-members. Late fees apply. Fee information is located on the NCSP Renewal Payment form.

What specific documentation is required for each CPD activity?

Several forms of documentation are acceptable (certificates of attendance, official transcripts, state or local summary reports, or activity documentation forms) depending on the kind of CPD activity you are documenting. You can refer to the NCSP Renewal Booklet to determine the appropriate documentation for each activity. Documentation should include the participant’s name, the activity type, the activity’s title, the date it took place, the sponsor, and the hours of participation. You must keep this documentation on file until you receive your new certification card. If you are audited, we will require a copy of your documentation. The number of hours you claim in each category and the evidence you provide during an audit must match. Receipt of your NCSP card indicates you have not been audited.

Can I use state or local school system reports as documentation?

NASP accepts state or local continuing education summary reports as documentation, provided the necessary information is included on the report.
